Glutathione Setria®

Description

Glutathione is composed of three amino acids: cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid (1) and could be considered the “master antioxidant.” Glutathione is present in every cell and is the main enemy of free radicals. Free radicals are naturally present in the body and are essential in small quantities. An excessive presence of free radicals has negative consequences for health. 

The role of antioxidants is to fight against the oxidation of the body which is created by the production of free radicals. 

The highest concentrations of glutathione are found in the liver and in blood and immune cells. Sometimes, the body’s need for glutathione exceeds its ability to produce it. In the morning, glutathione levels are at their lowest and must be replenished daily through a healthy diet and/or supplements. 

Glutathione exists in two forms, reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG). Only the reduced form has antioxidant properties.
